Guff
Guff has been claimed to stand for "Generally Unspecified Free Food," but its usage has been broadened to refer to anything that may be used or consumed by any members.

Other Definitions
Somewhat confusingly, "guff" can be used in several different ways, sometimes clarified as follows:
Common Guff
Refers to guff furniture, resources, bikes, etc. These are open for members to use freely, but are not free for members to take.
Up-for-grabs Guff
Usually what is meant by default when a member refers to something consumable or relatively small or inexpensive as "guff." Free to use, take, etc. as desired.
Stocked Guff
Original meaning of the term. This refers to consumable items stocked as part of our house finances, such as non-meal food, cleaning supplies, etc. Consumption is usually restricted to only members, whether roomers or boarders.
Conditional Guff
Members will occasional allow items or other resources to be used by other housemates under more specific conditions, which are usually specified by that member either out loud or in writing on a more case-by-case basis

Examples
- Guff food includes all food in the O'Keeffe and Ren dining rooms (saved meals are not guff until noon the day after they were prepared). If a member leaves food somewhere for anyone to take (e.g. candy), that counts too.
- Occasionally there are unused guff bikes in the bike room that have been donated or abandoned by members. These will be noted after work holiday, please do not assume any bike is guff before then.
- We have guff laundry detergent.
- The shelves in the laundry room near the ironing boards contain guff items that have been donated by members.
