So ya wanna move out?
Room inspections
- Your room should be move-in ready when you leave it. This means it should contain the original furniture set (see here), be free of all your belongings, and clean. Some dust is okay, but trash is not.
- To add on to the last point, if you have removed any furniture from your room it is your responsibility to return it before you leave (or be subject to the cleaning fine). The Discord is a great place to find extra pairs of hands to help you with moving bulkier furniture.
- If something is broken or you've left holes in the wall please submit an RFA. You won't be in trouble, we just ask this so the maintenance crew can track what work needs to be done.
- If your room does not meet the criteria above upon inspection, you will be assessed a cleaning fee of $25 per hour unless you can rectify issues before your departure. If an officer is unable to inspect your room before you leave you are still liable for cleaning fines. Please contact me in advance if any of the expectations above are unclear.
Additionally...
- If you plan to leave before your contract ends you are still responsible for any outstanding work shifts (see the Members Guide to Work at Escher). To avoid fines you should seek a shift swap(s) and, if that fails, submit for a work release. The Discord thread #chores is a great place to find a swap. You can also send a house email by emailing escher@icc.coop.
- If you have any release requests you should try to get them on a House Meeting before you leave the house. You can submit for these retroactively, but this is harder on you since you'll be fined and (if approved) then reimbursed the money, and it creates extra work for our Treasurer.
- Contact any businesses that send you mail to change your mailing address. USPS does not forward mail in the co-op system. This is why most former member mail is returned to sender.
- Per your contract you cannot use your shares to pay for any charges. To request a share return after your move-out, fill out this form.
