Karma Lounge
The Karma Lounge is the suite lounge of Karma. It is a very comfy lounge with two couches, a sectional, and a chair. Media: Books, VHS tapes (many), some board games, and a picture of a big truck. I like my big truck. Karma is an especially good lounge for watching movies with friends!
The TV has a Chromecast, and a couple of players capable of playing both DVDs and VHS tapes. I (Rowan P) set it up to do that, and it's a little funky, so see below for operating instructions:
To use DVD capabilities
- Make sure the TV is turned on, and the source is set to AV
- Check to see if the surge protector that the VHS players are plugged into is turned on / plugged in.
- Turn the lower (silver) combo-VHS-and-DVD player on. Its VHS player doesn't work. Its DVD player does.
- Press the Output button on the silver player until the DVD light is on.
- Press the Open/Close button to open the DVD drive, and the Play / Stop buttons work.
There is also a remote control (DVD VIDEO) that works on the silver machine. Maybe you like that.
To use VHS capabilities
This one is a little more funky.
- Turn the upper (Black / Grey ???) VHS player on. Its VHS player DOES work.
- Make sure the silver unit is set to VHS, not DVD, and that the Channel selection on the silver unit (Has up and down arrow buttons) is set to L1. If it's not, push the Channel down button until it is (L1 is before L2, which is before CH01. L1 is also after CH125.) You might not see anything yet if you haven't put in a tape yet.
- Put a VHS tape into the black machine like any other VHS player, and use that to control pause/play/stop/etc.
I set it up this way because this is easier than switching the plugs between the machines every time you want to use a different one. If nobody's messed with it since the last time it worked, then it should work fairly painlessly. Don't mess with it, I guess. And remember: Be kind! Rewind.
To change the TV source without a remote
There's buttons on the right-hand side of the TV.
- Press the Input button to bring up the list of inputs.
- Use the volume or channel buttons to select the desired source (Usually HDMI...)
- Just leave it there for a bit. I haven't found an enter / ok button, but after a few seconds the TV realizes you've made your choice and complies.
