Sizes

Bedrooms can be contracted for one of three options, in descending order of cost:

  1. Large Single
  2. Small Single
  3. Double

Large

Large rooms can be occupied by either a single member (Large Single) or two members (Large Double). These rooms contain the thermostat that also controls the adjacent room. These rooms contain two windows, each narrower than the sole window of a small room. They are L-Shaped, with their orientation mirroring and rotating depending on their location in the suite.

The standard room's dimensions are as follows: 11 foot width at door 7.5 foot width at back wall 10 feet from front of room to 'nook' cutout 4.5 feet from back wall to 'nook' cutout

Small

Small rooms can only be occupied by a single member. Heating in this room is controlled by the thermostat in the adjacent large room. Though these rooms contain one window, it is wide at 37 inches. Window fans and air conditioners often require additional baffles beyond the expanding ones built onto the sides of the unit.

A standard small single has approximately the following dimensions: 10' x 8.5' One enters the room on a short face of this rectangle, and the window is on the opposite short wall.

Smarge

Lovingly called a "smarge", these are rooms that occur at the inner corners of the house (Sinclair, Zapata, and Karma). They are smaller than a large and larger than a small, though officially called a small single on contracts.

The room dimensions are approximately as follows: 14.5' x 8.5' (rectangular estimate not accounting for extra space provided by a slight widening of the room near the entrance)

Corner Controllers

Small singles on the outer corner of the house (Sinclair, Zapata, Karma) contain the thermostat that controls the final two rooms in that hallway. They are the only small rooms with a thermostat.

Information to gather

  • Large room window width
  • number of outlets
